Your Mission

We are looking for someone who wants to join Uppsala Youth Guidance as a temporary community guide focusing on both opportunities and challenges to work together on the issue of the misinformation campaign that has been ongoing for a longer period.

In the role of community guide, you will inform and collaborate with civil society. This may involve children's rights, equitable parenting, issues regarding child upbringing in collaboration with family units, and how to seek early support from the social services or other parts of society. As a community guide, you should ensure that you or a cultural interpreter can be present at meetings with the social services if the family wishes to provide support and to follow up on what was said at the meeting.

Job Duties Include:

  • In collaboration with a team colleague, lead and educate cultural interpreters who can serve as a bridge and support to families in their contact with social services.
  • Find forms of collaboration within civil society for increased parental support to guardians whose children are taken into care under LVU.
  • Lead training and dialogue forums in collaboration between social services, cultural associations, and religious communities such as Uppsala Mosque to increase knowledge about Swedish social services and early preventive measures.

The work requires you to work one evening a week and you will also work during larger information campaigns that may occasionally be scheduled on weekends.

Your Background

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or another higher education that the employer deems relevant for the position, as well as training in motivational interviewing (MI). We would also like you to have training in systems theory.

To succeed in this role, you need to have at least 5 years of work experience after completing your education, of which 3 years should be in social work with children and youth. You should also have experience in multicultural work, work in socially vulnerable areas, and within social services. Experience in fieldwork and leadership is an advantage. Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is a prerequisite. The job requires you to have a B driver's license. Additional language and cultural competencies are considered an asset.

As a person, you should be genuinely interested in working with early preventive measures, willing to work in a cross-professional team, and interested in developing the operations. You are used to working independently, see what needs to be done, and have a great understanding of and interest in how people seek help.

This job suits you if you are flexible and can see opportunities in changes. You are communicative and have an easy time listening and adapting your way of communicating.
